@ReturnOfOctobot
Whoa there @Alondite, don't be powering down your Mega Drive just yet, we've got a double feature! It's time to get groovy with my boy Earthworm Jim.
"Ermergerd, another platformer. This is lame, woe is me!"
Well for one, shut your pie hole. For two, this isn't your run-of-the-mill chubby boy jumping on turtles platformer. EWJ has plenty of run and gun in there, as well as a daring underwater maze, a bungee jump with a lump of snot and a casual walk with a your cheeky doggo friend (who might be suffering with some monster-ism). Jim also has some of the best villain designs ever put to a cartridge, such as Psycrow, Professor Monkey-for-a-head and the final boss, The Evil Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-filled, Malformed, Slug-for-a-Butt. Admittedly there's also a cat and a goldfish, but they can't all be winners. Just a shame the creator is a complete dick or this entry would be entirely uncontroversial.
What are the rules?
Progress: Level Completion. No shiny rocks or spaceships in this one, so race to the finish!
Tiebreaker: Time > Deaths
Version: Mega Drive (or Genesis for all you weirdos out there). The game was built for the MD before being converted to the SNES and while the games are nearly identical, the SNES suffers by actually needing to load levels, the loss of a whole level (Intestinal Distess) and, due to a loss of resolution compared to the MD, the screen was stretched and thus you have less time to react in certain levels. There's also a Mega CD version but for the sake of simplicity, stick with the Mega Drive.
Difficulty: Whatever the default difficulty is.
Groovy
