Version: Master chief collection. It's on game pass and steam and all that good stuff. OG 360 version is allowed as it's hardly any different, but it would be a slight disadvantage due to longer loading times and lower frame rate, bear that in mind.

Difficulty setting: Legendary. Have fun with that.

Rules 'n' shit: Halo 3 is broken into levels and checkpoints which measure progress. Track your deaths as you go and take note of the furthest checkpoint reached when you die. The furthest checkpoint reached when you run out of time or give up is the progress you submit along with number of deaths.

Tie-breakers: deaths followed by time.

Pause timer for cutscenes if you want to watch them, or just skip them if you want.
