About

System Shock 2 is a first-person action-adventure game that was released for PC in 1999. It is a sequel to the 1994 game System Shock and is considered a classic of the genre. The game is set in a dystopian future where players control a character who must fight against an AI gone rogue and the mutated creatures it has created. The game is known for its immersive atmosphere, challenging gameplay, and branching storyline, which allows players to make choices that affect the game's narrative.

Rules:

Difficulty: Hard.
Select O.S.A. in the recruitment centre. It's up to you which stat upgrades to take. And you don't have to use psi if you don't want to. Training is optional. It's not timed anyway.
Timer starts when you wake from cryo-sleep on the Von Braun. Pause the timer for cutscenes. You can also pause while reading help. That's the Information terminals scattered about (mostly in Med-Sci), and also there's a [?] button on the lower-left side of your HUD that gives you information about items in your inventory.
Progress is the highest deck you've reached and the tasks you've completed. Your PDA has a list of notes for which tasks have been completed. To make things easier you must do the tasks on deck 4 before going to deck 5.
Quantum reconstruction doesn't count as a death. Only game overs or reloading a save.
No memorizing keypads. You must find the code before you can use it. (The exception are two keypads which don't have codes listed. These can be brute-forced.)

No "abuse" of save scumming. Frequent saving is not discourage if used to preserve progress. But reloading to rewind time is not. e.g. Don't reload to get out of a failed hack attempt.
Vanilla game without mods. Steam and GOG versions should work out of the box. If you need to use a patch to make it run be sure it doesn't add any "quality of life" fixes.

The cutscenes are rendered in-game. You'll know you're in a cutscene when your movement is restricted.

@Fusha

You've no reason to be scared, Floof! Just remember how well you did in System Shock, that will help you calm down. No one can take that achievement away from you now, because round 5 is now over!! (but if someone is still doing their run they can still submit it)

The round winner is Tom! Tom was expected to win, as it was his nomination. However! Something that wasn't mentioned last week is that Rayman was also Tom's nomination, and he unusually nominated that game having never played it before!! Many cheers for Tom, both for his victory, and his previous inspiring, selfless nomination! And also for nominating System Shock 2, which some of us (but not others!) have greatly enjoyed. Especially Floof, who scored a very confident second place, reaching an entire deck over his competitors with plenty of time to spare! And he somehow managed to achieve this feat without ever realizing the game had a map, among other things. Marcman, who is yet to place anywhere below 5th place, got 3rd, I got 4th, and Octobot snagged fifth with less than two minutes left on his timer. Apart from Tom, everyone in the top 5 played this game blind. Well done to us all, top 5 or otherwise, for getting through this map-reading. wrench-swinging, reading comprehension challenge!!
