@ReturnOfOctobot
Despite this being a RoaL, this isn't a hardcore Nuzlocke.
You can stop cheering.........nnnnnnnnnow.
You know what Pokémon is, but you newbies might be bamboozled at the concept of a Nuzlocke. Well, a Nuzlocke is what happens when you want to play Pokémon with a bit of a bite to it. Actions have consequences! Battles have dicey choices to them! Luck plays a part, but not as much as you think! It's the epic struggle (:OctoKappa:) for the mind: you're playing an RPG for babies, but suddenly it can kick your arse.
And then there's a time limit.
WHAT ARE THE RULES?!
Progress: Gym Leaders / Elite Four Beaten > Time
Time: 5 hours, standard speed.
The specific Pokémon Nuzlocke rules are:
• Name your Pokémon
• Catch only the first Pokémon you see in each area (except duplicates)
• If it faints, it’s dead. You must release the Pokemon
• Battle Style in the options must be "Set"
BONUS RULE: Time (and the only save state allowed)
You must start the timer WHEN YOU NAME YOUR RIVAL. This occurs when you visit Elm's lab after the first rival battle. At this stage, SHOULD YOU WISH TO, you can use a save state. This will ensure that, in the event of a reset, you can jump straight to this point without going through the prologue all over again. This does mean sticking with the same starter but if you did want to change it up you'd only need to power through the start again.
"Can I use online trackers to help with the Nuzlocke?"
No. There are too many variables and potential struggle breaking benefits that could give you too much of a boost. It's very easy to track what you've caught and where, so just use a pen and paper.
"Can I therefore grind in the early section and over level my starter before the timer starts?"
Only up to level 9. Any more than that and you're just being naughty.
"But I can use items in battle?"
Yes

-
You can pause the timer while naming your Pokemon. Don't forget to restart that timer once you have named them though!
-
Pokemon can be different in areas depending on the time of day. This was the introduction of the day cycle in Pokemon. You can set the time to whatever you want when starting your run.

Species/Evolution tree clauses do not count here. If you come across another Pokemon from the same evolution tree as the one you have previously caught, that will count as an encounter where you must capture it.
