Mega Bomberman, itself a fairly accurate port of the PC Engine's Bomberman '94 (which might clue you in on its release year), is yet another popular entry in the fantastic Bomberman series. Bomberman has the ability to light bombs and run away, demolishing destructible bricks that litter his environs. There are also enemies to immolate along the way, and pickups that extend the Bomber's technique to kicking bombs further away and increasing the size of explosions. Bomberman really comes alive in the multi-player mode that has whiled away many a gamer's hours - but this one has a fairly decent single-player story. This version also introduces Louies that, much like Yoshi, can be ridden by Bomberman and provide an extra hit - different colour Louies also have different abilities. This is the fella that throws the bombs, you know him. Wanted in seven States. He won’t stop until he’s destroyed all the destructible blocks, and now you get to be the voices in his head - guiding him on his mad quest to cover the Earth’s crust in pockmarks. Oh and this one has multi-coloured kangaroos in it, fantastic.

In Bomberman games you use bombs to destroy destructible blocks, as well as the local wildlife and bosses. In this edition you also need to collect shards of The Spirit Pictures, which were broken alongside the entire Bomber Planet by this game’s antagonist, Bagular. Each world contains several stages and culminates in a boss battle - we will be counting those as levels too. Can you restore the planet and reunite all the Spirit Pictures? Well, not with that attitude.

• 5 in Vexin’ Volcano
• 5 in Slammin’ Sea
• 5 in Crankin’ Castle
• 5 in Thrashin’ Tundra
• and 2 Final Levels on Bagular's comet.

The game has power ups that affect your bombing capabilities, make sure to read the manual and have an idea of which-does-what.

Once more, we're breaking records, outdoing week 1's submission count and reaching 25 submissions! Thanks to everyone who made it possible!

Bomberman sure seemed like it was quite the hit with everyone, outside of a certain crab boss or perhaps that final gauntlet! Our top 4 managed to outhustle the sizzling fuse and bring home a Complete, while the remaining people in the top 11 all reached the final boss, but could not keep up with his dastardly tricks. Some close finishes, too - Garlips getting the final shot with just 9 minutes to spare, Kythias and DMAC submitting just 40 seconds apart.

Dapper boy Octobot has already given a fantastic Season Progress recap, I suggest everyone scroll up and read it once more. For those keeping track, Deccy extends his win streak over Tater to 3-0, however neither reached the top 10, so they are just as close as ever in regards to points. Speaking of close, just one poor soul is snuggled in between the two bars this week: Fusha by way of a 5th place tiebreaker. Be sure to be extra nice to him this week, as I can't think of a more miserable place to be.
